Population: SCI: Gender: males = 9, females = 7; Severity of injury: AIS: A –D: Family history of overweight/obesity: yes = 11, no = 5.
Treatment: Attended 12 wks (90 min/wkof classes that were focused on nutrition and exercise on weight control, weight reduction, and 6 wks (30-min exercise session was introduced).
Outcome measures: Physiologic measures, diet behaviour, psychosocial well being.

  1. During intervention: 14 subjects lost weight (4.2 kg)
  2. Decreases were noted in BMI (p<0.05), waist circumference (p<0.0005), neck circumference (p<0.02), skinfold thickness (p<0.0005). 
  3. HDL levels decreased significantly (p<0.03). 
  4. Post intervention follow-up (n=13): 6 continued to lose wt (2.1 kg), 4 kept wt off, 3 gained wt (3.0 kg).
